Carara National Park is located in Costa Rica’s central Pacific region. The area was made National Park to protect, among other things, the habitats of the scarlet macaws, as well as coastal mangroves along the nearby Tarcoles River. The best time of year to visit Carara National Park is the dry season, which is December through mid April. The worst time to visit the park is August through October because of the heavy rainy season.
