Once you enter the reserve they will find the visitor’s center (Casa de Patrimonio), located on the northwest side. From there visitors can visit the trails; one of the most popular one is the quarter mile upstream along the Río Cabuya to the poza. Here there are great concentrations of wildlife in the dry season.  Also, on the southern edge of the reserve lies the Quebrada La Mula, a seasonal stream, and the forest area that once formed a continuous corridor between Lomas Barbudal Biological Reserve and Palo Verde National Park.

The entrance is located in the south of the PanAmerican Highway near km 221 (10 km northwest of the little town of Bagaces and 14 km southeast of the city of Liberia. The road is very rough and 4WD vehicles are recommended.  If you continue along that road you will find Palo Verde National Park.
