Limon
Limon province was founded in 1870 as a banana exportation port. Limon economic activities include banana, pineapple, pejibaye, cocoa, plantain and bamboo, among others. It population has a mixture of cultures afro Caribbean, indigenous, Chinese and European, which give an unique gastronomy and language; an English Creole and Spanish are spoken in the province. Puerto Limon is a perfect stopping point in one of the most geographically diverse areas in all of Central America. Whether you want to explore the swamps to the North, the domineering mountains to the south, or the warm, turtle-laden beaches that are the area's main attraction, Limon is a nature lover paradise.
A wild and beautiful region with pounding surf and it offers tourists some of the most gorgeous white sand coconut tree lined beaches that one has ever seen. Limon has become an important area for fishing enthusiasts as its waters are rich with many species of fish. It is located in the eastern part of the country at the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The town of Puerto Viejo de Limón is a popular surfing destination. Limon province also has interesting and beautiful National Parks such as Cahuita National Park, Tortuguero and Barra del Colorado National Park, and other natural life refugees such as Gandoca Manzanillo and Isla Uvita
